David Dolan will return to the ring in Hartlepool on March 25
The fight will be Dolan’s first in nine month after being defeated by Jon Lewis Dickinson on points at the Stadium of Light last year.
Many had expected that to be the 32 year-olds last professional outing but Dolan has returned to the gym after a break ahead of a fight at the Hartlepool Borough Hall.
It will not be an easy fight for Dolan though as his coach Neil Fannan has promised him a tough fight.
“Dave is looking good,” Fannan said. “He has been a great professional and I think he was very unlucky not to become the British champion.
“Dave wants to give it a go. But I want a tough contest for him.
“I would love him to be matched with a young, up-and-coming fighter – someone who is after his scalp and fancies it. I don’t want a knock-over job. I want someone who is coming for a fight and coming to beat him.
“Dave has had loads of notice for this bout and let’s see what he’s got.”
The Sunderland-born boxer has failed to win in any of his last three fights so it will be interesting to see if he can make a successful return at the end of March.(Source: Sunderland Echo)
